How Our Blog Reader Ratings Work

The total rating for each reader is calculated by the amount of total thumbs a reader has. Total thumbs are the amount of thumbs up minus any thumbs down. If there happens to be a tie in total thumbs, we will use the total comments and give precedence to the reader with the most total thumbs AND total comments.

The reader ratings table utilizes many different options that can be administered and adjusted at any time. Currently, the rating table is set to purge all data and refresh every year (so we can feature new readers at the top), it displays the top ten readers in real time for the entire year, reader names cut off at 18 characters or more, reader names link to each reader's site and I can ban users or turn off links, add nofollow and more. I hope that we can all use this fun, entertaining, interactive feature together without having to worry about readers gaming the system or cheating on the thumbs.

Reader Ratings Avatars & Updating Default Avatars

Current reader ratings avatars are powered by MyBlogLog, a Yahoo company, which allows users to update and change their avatars, including the default avatars, at any time they choose. To change your default avatar or update your current avatar simply go to MyBlogLog, login to your account and click on the "My Account" link near the search bar and welcome message at the top right.

Once you have successfully logged in and are viewing your account page, simply click on the "Change Image" link under your current avatar and either add a photo, add an avatar or manage your current images. You can choose to update all your Yahoo profile images or just your MyBlogLog profile avatar. Once you have changed your default avatar or updated the current one, you can expect it to appear within eCommerce Optimization comments and on this page (if you leave comments and make the top ten readers rated). It may take several days or even weeks for avatars to update across all your accounts, including here at our blog. The longest it has ever taken was three weeks, generally it takes a few days or one week at the most.
