StreetPrices Launches New Site, Features More Product Info & Better Organization

eCommerce Marketing

StreetPrices New Company Logo

A couple of weeks ago I had the privilege of interviewing Autumn Looijen about StreetPrices, a comparison shopping engine that is featured on our Product Listing Guide. During that interview, Autumn mentioned that StreetPrices was working on several new upgrades including a brand new site design and features to provide shoppers with better product information and a more organized shopping experience.

Well, today is the day that StreetPrices launches their new features and site design. The differences include a wider range of product information, links to manufacturers sites, product reviews/articles, price comparison charts from one page, improved wishlist feature, pawprints for favorite products and even sticky notes that can be placed on any product and searched for at a later time. Oh, and they also changed their favicon from the puppy one to a blue “SP” icon. StreetPrices hopes these new changes will help separate them from other CSE’s in the space and that it will allow for a better shopping experience all around for consumers.

To bypass my writeup and go right to a test walk of the new StreetPrices site, visit the link below…

Ok, now that the non-readers are gone, let’s get into the new StreetPrices features and what I like about their new design. After that I will try to mention some things I personally think could be done to better on their part, although by the looks of things I have seen so far, they have put together quite a nice product comparison tool and search engine.

First, StreetPrices is giving their shoppers more detailed product information and manufacturers links.

StreetPrices Information Page

  • New product pages include direct links to the manufacturer

StreetPrices Manufacturer Links

  • New pages include links to good articles and/or reviews found on other sites

StreetPrices Articles

  • Price charts show all items on a single page so have easy access to your options

Second, StreetPrices has added features to help consumers better organize their shopping.

StreetPrices Organization Feature

  • Improved wishlist feature

StreetPrices Wishlist Feature

  • Pawprints for saving products

StreetPrices Pawprint Feature

  • Searchable sticky notes for later review or important reminders

StreetPrices Sticky Notes Feature

StreetPrices New Site Pros

  • No advertisements (might change)
  • Detailed product information
  • Product reviews and articles
  • Sticky notes and wishlist feature
  • Comparison chart on a single page
  • Paw prints for saving products
  • Social bookmarking links
  • Price alerts on any item
  • Simple layout and easy to use interface
  • Stock availability and inventory
  • Last update time stamp
  • Good breadcrumb navigation
  • Best price, may also like and related items
  • Number of sellers for a particular item
  • Match, price, brand and category refinements
  • Show only saved items
  • Grid and list layout options
  • UPC matching and related UPC’s
  • Hot 100 per day
  • I’m sure there’s more, but those are my favorites

StreetPrices New Site Cons

  • Product info and comparisons on separate pages
  • Too much whitespace, easy to get lost
  • Better merchant documentation and information
  • 100% fluid width instead of margins on all sides
  • Search area needs to have search right below or next to logo
  • No search bar from the bottom of the page
  • Alt tags using part numbers and UPC’s not brand and product names
  • I’m sure there’s more, but nothing other than those jumped out

Overall, StreetPrices has done a great job on their latest release and new site launch. I prefer the new site a lot over their old one. By the looks of their newest features, they are here to stay and I recommend anyone not already familiar with them to give their site a whirl. THey search top merchants, top brands and limit results to 10,000 per query. The site is fast and there are great tools in place to help shoppers expedite the browsing and buying processes.

Great job o the new site launch Autumn! I will send any other feedback I have later on or as it comes up! I urge any of you to share what you like and don’t like about the new StreetPrices look and feel, they can’t improve if they don’t know, so be sure to share your ideas. They are always looking to make what they have better, together we can all help. Leave a comment if you have an idea or notice something that could be done better.
