Southwest Airlines Now Accepting PayPal Payments For Online Ticket Purchases
Southwest Airlines announced today (via PayPal press release) that they will now be accepting PayPal payments for ticket purchases made on southwest.com and iflyswa.com. Southwest specializes in low fare flights with frequent flights across the western and southwestern United States. The beauty of using PayPal is that SWA customers do not have to provide financial information to the airline when making ticket purchases Online. PayPal also gives SWA customer more payment options including debit cards, credit cards, bank accounts or stored funds from their PayPal account.
Here are some statements from SWA employees about the recent addition of PayPal:
Adding PayPal to our website allows our Customers to pay for Southwest’s great service and low fares with the ease and convenience of using their PayPal accounts. We want to make purchasing a ticket on Southwest Airlines as easy and appealing as possible—and PayPal is a great addition to our payment options (Kevin Krone). We are pleased to add Southwest Airlines to the growing roster of merchants who accept PayPal. Our customers prefer to use PayPal because of the security and convenience it offers. Now these customers can use PayPal to buy tickets on one of the nation’s most popular airlines (Stephanie Tilenius).
Southwest is the second airline that has recently starting accepting PayPal payment for Online ticket purchases. Earlier we posted about Northwest Airlines accepting PayPal as a payment option.
On a side note, I wanted to comment on SWA new blog, “Nuts About Southwest.”
They have a great new design and are really ramping up their content offerings there. It’s a great example of using a corporate blog to reach out to new and existing customers and/or fans of your business.
