I agree Trevor. Won't be much, at first, for shoppers. Shopify originally launched their site under the .com and have now moved all their shop system content to the .info. All the links from their launch and over time are still pointing at the .com domain, so it should help with the Marketplace ranking, as long as their pages are accessible to bots. Not only do those pages have the potential to show up high in search results, it also gives their clients a link from their domain to get them going (similar to other eCom providers directories).

Plus, all the store users who want to see their listing on the featured store section may check out other stores within the Marketplace and could possibly even purchase something.

I agree it's not the same as a CSE like Shopping.com or Google, but it could be useful for the store owners and shoppers looking for unique products offered through Shopify stores.

Whilst the Shopify marketplace is a nice add on for Shopify customers, I would be surprised if it brings in much traffic. The marketplace does not have any particular SEO advantage to to that extent is just a search engine of shopify customers. I would prefer to use a shopping comparison engine or simply Google.
