Do I need to buy any software if I plan to use a web store designer?
Question: Do I need to buy any software if I plan to use a web store designer?
Answer: Part of being an eBusiness owner means knowing what tools and potential software programs you need to run and manage your online business. There should be no need for you to buy any design related software if you are planning to hire a professional company or designer to outsource your project to. You may need to research tax and billing software or customer service related software like survey forms or bulk email programs. If the company you hire to build your store doesn’t have these features included you may need to purchase additional software. You will need to review the features the company or service provider you choose offers or compare different packages in order to get all the features your eBusiness requires.
Although you are not required to buy any additional software, we still recommend you purchase and learn any software required to run your business in the future. Learn to use your control panel or administrative backend and if the designer you choose uses a software program that isn’t custom, you may wish to purchase and/or learn those programs as well (ei. if they build you an oScommerce store, you would want to learn about oScommerce). As you progress, you will eventually want to learn the programs you use yourself or have an employee who maintains your store. You may have trouble depending on contract designers after the initial development as they work for themselves, not for you. In the long run, it is better to maintain and update your store yourself or in-house.
